Waking up to the smell of freshly baked croissants is pretty much the definition of a perfect morning.

But finding a volunteer to get dressed and pick them up at the local bakery is another matter. And that’s only if the bakery isn’t too far away!

As an alternative, why not make them yourself?

There are more and more ready-to-bake croissant that you can make at home.

Some are ready to put in the oven, others require a little more effort. Such is the case with Première Moisson ready-to-bake croissants, which I decided to try out.

Step by step preparation

Croissants Première Moisson

To prepare Première Moisson croissants, there are a few steps to follow:

  1. Place the frozen croissants on a baking sheet and refrigerate for about 8 hours (e.g. in the evening before going to bed).
  2. The next day, place the baking sheet in the turned-off oven, adding a bowl of boiling water to the oven.
  3. Close the oven door and leave to ferment for 1h00 to 1h15.
    – The steam from the water will bring heat and humidity into the oven.
    – Don’t forget to leave plenty of space between the croissants, as they will get bigger.
  4. To bake: remove the baking sheet with the croissants from the oven and preheat to 360F. You can brush the croissants with beaten egg.
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.

The results: delicious croissants

I was very surprised by the result. I didn’t expect the croissants to be so good!

The taste is so close to what you’d find in a store, and they’re warm too! And what can I say about the smell of croissants in the house? Yummy!

Top it off with a good jam, hot coffee and a glass of orange juice, and you’ve got the perfect breakfast.

Obviously, having to take them out the day before (or 8 hours before) requires a bit of planning, but it’s really a minimal effort for this kind of result.

And did you know that Première Moisson also makes ready-to-bake chocolatine? If you’re having people over for brunch, you can impress them with your homemade pastries! You can buy them in Première Moisson bakeries.
