Located in the atrium of the Nelligan Hotel in Old Montreal, the NELLi seduces as soon as you arrive.
Its bright and green interior immediately gives us the feeling of being in a courtyard somewhere in Europe.
The wine list
Although there is no official definition, a natural wine is usually organically or biodynamically grown and bottled without any inputs.
Fermentation is done with indigenous yeasts, i.e. yeasts already present on the grapes.
But if you are not familiar with natural wines, don’t worry.
An evening at NELLi is an opportunity to learn and make great discoveries, thanks in particular to the advice of the sommelier Adrien de Philip, who knows the menu he has created inside out.
This one is composed of about fifteen bottles and is regularly changed according to the arrivals, which is perfect to discover new wines at each visit.
The menu at NELLi
To accompany the wine, the food menu consists of simple and tasty dishes to share.
They offer oysters, charcuterie and cheese platters, burrata and tartar, among others.
We particularly appreciated the fried calamari, served with a creamy and tangy tartar sauce.
As for the goat cheese focaccia, it was hearty without being too heavy to eat.
Good to know: NELLi is also a coffee shop that serves brunch, lunch and dinner. A perfect way to start the day, or to take a break in the afternoon!
Special mention: The beauty of the place, enhanced by a magnificent plant decor.
